Email traffic reports

A free website traffic report in your inbox, daily, weekly or monthly

Totallytics emails free website traffic reports for up to 50 sites, to 25 recipients per site, daily, weekly or monthly at your hour in each recipient's time zone: visitors, pageviews, top pages, referrers, countries, events and unusual days. No cookies, no credit card.

What is in the report

Every report opens with the overview: visitors and pageviews for the period against the one before. Then the sections you switch on: top pages, referrers, countries, custom events, an alerts section and API stats. Pages, referrers, alerts and API are on by default, countries and events off, and each recipient on a site's own list can have a different set.

The alerts section needs 14 days of history. It flags a day whose pageviews sit more than 2.5 standard deviations and more than 50% away from the trailing 28-day mean, so a spike from a Hacker News post or a drop after a broken deploy gets a line of its own.

When it arrives

  • Daily covers yesterday in the recipient's time zone.
  • Weekly goes out on Monday and covers the previous Monday to Sunday.
  • Monthly goes out on the 1st and covers the previous calendar month.

The send hour is a wall-clock hour from 0 to 23 in the recipient's IANA time zone, so daylight saving follows the clock. Due reports are queued at 7 minutes past the hour. An hour that does not exist because the clocks sprang forward sends nothing that day.

Workspace defaults or per site

Set a recipient list once as a workspace default and every new site inherits it. Give a site its own custom list when a client or a teammate only needs that one, or switch a site off. A workspace digest adds one email per recipient across all your sites, independent of the per-site settings. Only verified sites send mail. Every mail carries a one-click unsubscribe link and the standard list-unsubscribe headers, so a recipient can stop their own copy without asking you.

Mail comes from reports@totallytics.com. A permanently failing address is disabled right away; transient failures are retried 3 times, and 5 failures in a row stop the schedule until you fix the address.

Alerts for APIs

API sites get their own alert emails, separate from reports: a rule fires when the 5xx share passes a threshold, when p95 latency passes a millisecond limit, or when a route that had traffic yesterday goes silent. Rules are checked every minute over a 5, 15 or 60 minute window, 20 rules per site, 10 recipients per rule, from alerts@totallytics.com. More in API analytics.

Set it up

Sign in with Google, add your domain and paste the tracking script into your HTML:

<script
  async
  src="https://totallytics.com/latest.js"
  data-hostname="example.com"
  data-verify="YOUR_SITE_VERIFY_TOKEN"
></script>

Once the first pageview has verified the site, open its settings, add recipients and pick the frequency, hour and sections. Recipients can also be managed over the API; see the email reports docs.

FAQ

Can I send the report to a client?

Yes. Add their address as a recipient on that site, with its own frequency, hour, time zone and sections. They can unsubscribe themselves with one click.

Why did a report not arrive?

The site is not verified yet, the send hour was skipped by a daylight-saving jump, or the address failed repeatedly and the schedule stopped. The report settings show when a site was last emailed and flag failing delivery.

Can I get the numbers as a file instead?

The dashboard exports the overview series as CSV, and the stats API returns every table as JSON. Reports themselves are email only.

Does this need cookies on my site?

No. Totallytics sets no cookies and uses no local storage, and IP addresses are never stored. Data lives in Frankfurt, Germany.
