Free analytics tools compared
The 10 best free website analytics tools in 2026, with their real limits
Totallytics is free for 50 websites with no pageview cap and no credit card. Here are 10 free website analytics tools compared on pageview caps, sites, data history, cookies and card requirements, checked on October 7, 2026.
"Free" means three different things in web analytics: free forever, free up to a cap, or a free trial that ends. This list only counts tools with a plan that costs $0 after the trial period, and every number was read from the vendor's own pricing or docs page on October 7, 2026. Plausible, Fathom and Matomo Cloud are listed at the end because they only offer trials.

The tools, one by one
Totallytics. Free for up to 50 websites with every feature included: pageviews, referrers, countries, devices, custom events, goals and 2 to 6 step funnels, 12-week retention cohorts, a live feed, Search Console import, daily, weekly or monthly email reports and API monitoring for Node.js, Cloudflare Workers and Go. No cookies, no browser storage, IP addresses are never stored, and the data lives in Frankfurt, Germany. It is closed source and cannot be self-hosted, and there is no session replay, heatmap, A/B testing or revenue tracking. Not a trial, no credit card.
Cloudflare Web Analytics. Free on every Cloudflare plan and works without moving your DNS. The dashboard shows the previous six months, there is a soft limit of ten sites for sites that are not proxied through Cloudflare, and no cookies or local storage are used. No goals, funnels or email reports.
Google Analytics 4. Free with the deepest feature set on this list, but it runs on cookies, standard properties keep event-level data for 2 or 14 months, and a property that grows large gets its retention forced down to 2 months. Expect a learning curve.
Microsoft Clarity. Free forever with no traffic limits and no limit on sites, built around session recordings and heatmaps rather than traffic reports. It sets first-party cookies and keeps data for 30 days.
Umami Cloud. The Hobby plan is free for one website and 100,000 events a month with 6 months of history. Pro is $20 a month for 1 million events, 20 websites and 2 years of history, with a 14-day trial. Cookieless, and the self-hosted version is open source.
Simple Analytics. The free plan takes 5 websites with unlimited pageviews under a fair-use policy, but keeps only the latest 30 days and requires a badge on your site. Paid plans start at $20 a month for 100,000 pageviews. Cookieless. Totallytics can import a Simple Analytics export if you move.
PostHog. 1 million events a month free, one project, one year of retention, no credit card. It is product analytics first: session replays, feature flags and experiments sit next to web analytics. Uses a first-party cookie by default, which you can switch off.
Vercel Web Analytics. Free on the Hobby plan for 50,000 events a month across unlimited projects, with a 1-month reporting window. Collection pauses once you hit the cap, and it only works for sites deployed on Vercel. Cookieless.
Clicky. The free plan covers one website, 3,000 pageviews a day and 30 days of history. Pro is $9.99 a month for 10 websites and 30,000 daily pageviews. Every new account gets a 21-day trial of the paid tier without a card.
GoatCounter. Free for reasonable public usage, funded by donations, with any number of sites on one account and no cookies. Self-hosting is open source. There is no published pageview cap or retention figure.
Free trials, not free plans
- Plausible: from $9 a month for 10,000 pageviews and one site, 30-day trial, no card.
- Fathom: from $15 a month for 100,000 pageviews and 50 sites, 7-day trial, card required.
- Matomo Cloud: from $26 a month for 50,000 hits, 21-day trial, no card. Matomo On-Premise is free to self-host.
How to pick
If you want everything in one free account, including funnels, email reports and an API, take Totallytics. If your site is already behind Cloudflare and you only need traffic numbers, Cloudflare Web Analytics is the lightest option. If you need recordings and heatmaps, take Clarity. If you need product analytics with feature flags, take PostHog. If you must self-host, take Umami, Matomo On-Premise or GoatCounter.
