Funnel analytics

Free funnel analytics for your website

Totallytics builds 2 to 6 step funnels from pages and custom events, shows conversion by source, entry page and country, and measures median and p90 time to convert. Free during beta, no cookies.

How funnels work

A step is a page or a custom event, and visitors have to complete the steps in order on the same UTC day. Each step can be narrowed with up to 6 filters: page, source, country, device, browser, operating system, or UTM source, medium and campaign.

Funnels are computed when you open them, from data the tracker already collected. A funnel you create today shows last month right away, so you don't have to set anything up in advance.

What each funnel shows

Report What it tells you
Step counts How many visitors reached each step
Conversion The share that made it from the first step to the last
Time to convert Median and p90 time to convert
Breakdown Conversion by source, entry page, country, device, browser, OS or UTM parameter

Track the steps

Page steps work as soon as the script is on your site. For clicks and form submits, send a custom event:

window.tt_event("signup");

Events can carry metadata, like window.tt_event("upgrade_clicked", { tier: "pro" }), and your backend can send them with POST /events. See custom events and goals.

Limits

  • Up to 20 goals per site, funnels included.
  • All steps have to happen on the same UTC day. The salt behind the daily visitor hash is deleted after each day, so nobody can be followed across days.
  • Imported Simple Analytics history has no visitor identity, so funnels only cover data collected by the Totallytics tracker.
  • No revenue, A/B tests or multi-week attribution. PostHog or Mixpanel fit better for those.

FAQ

Does a new funnel include past data?

Yes. Funnels are computed from the pageviews and events you already collected, so a new funnel fills in past dates right away.

Can steps happen on different days?

No. Steps have to happen in order on the same UTC day.

Do funnels need cookies?

No. Totallytics sets no cookies and uses no local storage. Steps are linked with a hash of the IP address and user agent and a salt that changes every UTC day.

Can I mix pages and events in one funnel?

Yes. Any step can be a page or a custom event, sent from the browser or your server.
