What Totallytics adds
Retention without cookies. Weekly returning-visitor cohorts over 12 weeks. The only state lives in the visitor's own browser cache: the week the browser was first seen and the week it was last seen. Add data-retention="false" to turn it off.
API analytics. One middleware for Hono, Express, Fastify, Next.js, Workers and Go reports requests, status codes, p50, p95 and p99 latency and errors per route, with email alerts. More on API analytics.
Everything included. Funnels, Search Console, email reports and the stats API come with every account during the beta.
Where Plausible is the better choice
- You want open source or self-hosting. Totallytics is closed source.
- You need revenue goals, scroll depth or a Google Analytics import.
- You want the whole pipeline on European-owned infrastructure. Totallytics stores data in Frankfurt but collects it on Cloudflare's network.
- You want a mature product. Totallytics is in beta.
Switch from Plausible
Add your site, then replace the Plausible script with the tracking script from your site settings:
<script
async
src="https://totallytics.com/latest.js"
data-hostname="example.com"
data-verify="YOUR_SITE_VERIFY_TOKEN"
></script>
Replace plausible("Signup") calls with window.tt_event("signup"). Plausible history can't be imported, so keep your Plausible export as an archive.
FAQ
Can I import my Plausible history?
No. Totallytics only imports Simple Analytics CSV exports.
How does retention work without cookies?
The script asks for a small response that the browser keeps in its HTTP cache until midnight. It holds two things: the week the browser was first seen and the week it was last seen. Clearing the cache makes it a new visitor.
Is Totallytics open source?
No, and it can't be self-hosted.
